About Sxphy

Sxphy is a recording studio in Manila led by Joseph Santiago, a practical, artist-friendly sound engineer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, and music producer with decade-level experience working across different genres.

Sound engineering that starts with the artist

Good studio work is technical, but a session is still a human experience. Artists need enough structure to stay focused and enough room to perform honestly. Joseph’s approach is to listen first: what is the song trying to say, what references matter, what is already working, and what is getting in the way?

That conversation shapes the technical plan. Microphone choice, gain, monitoring, editing, compression, ambience, and loudness matter, but they are tools—not the identity of the track. Sxphy uses them to support the performance and make the production translate outside the studio.

From demo to release-ready production

Some clients arrive with a finished arrangement. Others bring a phone recording, a beat, a chord progression, lyrics, or a collection of home-recorded stems. Sxphy can help define the next useful step: refine the arrangement, build a guide track, prepare a recording session, edit the performances, mix the song, master it, or bring in session musicians.

This makes the studio suitable for indie artists and first-time singers as well as experienced bands and creators. The process is explained clearly so clients understand where their budget is going and which decisions will have the biggest impact.

Different genres, the same attention to intent

Joseph has recorded and mixed OPM, indie rock, pop, rap and hip-hop, worship and gospel, reggae, alternative music, acoustic projects, voice-over, podcasts, and other audio work. Each style asks for different balances and textures. Sxphy avoids treating genre presets as a substitute for listening.

Sessionists when the song needs more

An unfinished part should not stop a promising song. Sxphy can help provide guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers, backing vocalists, and other session musicians depending on the project. The role, fee, schedule, and expected files are agreed before the session.

A studio that grows through real work

Actual studio photos, an approved gear list, client testimonials, detailed production credits, and before-and-after audio will be added as they are prepared for public use. Those sections are currently marked “To be updated” rather than filled with invented claims.
